The Incredible Survival Story of the Sole Passenger of the Air India Crash

The only survivor of the Air India crash was sitting in seat 11A, which is next to one of the aircraft’s emergency exits.

Described as the 'Miracle of Seat 11A,' British citizen Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was the lone survivor of a tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. He was seated next to an emergency exit, which potentially contributed to his survival.

Ramesh's brother, who sat across the aisle from him, tragically did not survive the explosion. Ramesh recounted feeling like he was dead until he saw an opening in the fuselage that allowed him to escape.

Despite the remarkable survival of Ramesh, experts caution against assuming that seat 11A is somehow safer than others. Graham Braithwaite, a professor in aerospace and aviation, suggested that Ramesh might have been thrown from the wreckage, allowing him to survive.

After the crash, Ramesh was seen walking towards an ambulance, dressed in a bloodied t-shirt. He later shared his harrowing experience, struggling to comprehend how he managed to escape the fireball explosion.

Ramesh described the terrifying moments leading up to the crash, noting that the aircraft was not gaining altitude and eventually collided with a building before exploding. He managed to crawl out through an opening in the fuselage, surrounded by devastation.

Despite sustaining minor burns on his left hand, Ramesh was grateful for the care he received after the crash. The death toll from the incident currently stands at 265, with authorities working to identify the victims through DNA testing.
