The first stage of the summer transfer window will close at 7pm on Tuesday evening, meaning time is running out for Man United to get deals wrapped up.

Manchester United are in a race against the clock to get any further transfer business done ahead of the window temporarily closing next week.

Having opened earlier than usual due to an exceptional registration period amid the new-look FIFA Club World Cup, the summer transfer window will shut for just under a week at 7pm on Tuesday, before reopening on Monday, June 16.

United have come flying out of the traps at the start of this summer's window, wrapping up the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5million deal and attempting to get a deal over the line for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

After triggering his release clause, United confirmed the arrival of Cunha last Sunday subject to him obtaining a visa and registration. Just over 24 hours later, it emerged that Mbeumo has his sights set on a move to Old Trafford.

United tabled an offer for him, understood to be worth £55m, but it was swiftly rejected by Brentford. However, talks remain ongoing and United are expected to lodge an improved bid.

The Bees are understood to be holding out for a similar fee to the £62.5m United paid Wolves for Cunha, although the Brazilian's exit from Molineux was much easier to manufacture because of his release clause.

Nevertheless, United are confident they will be able to lure Mbeumo to M16 amid his desire to make the switch. He has also been the subject of interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The deal for Mbeumo is understood to be the only one United are actively working on despite needing to strengthen other areas of their squad this summer. A goalkeeper and a midfielder are understood to be high up on their wish list.

But ahead of Tuesday evening's deadline, United are currently unlikely to add to the addition of Cunha. They are yet to agree a fee with Brentford for Mbeumo and it is unlikely they will get everything signed, sealed and delivered ahead of the cut-off point.

As far as outgoings are concerned, United have a list of players they would like to offload this summer, including Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony. However, they are yet to have been in recipient of bids for any of them.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan have confirmed their interest in Rasmus Hojlund, who could be sold this summer, but official talks are yet to take place.

It means barring for any unexpected developments at a rapid turn of speed, no incomings or outgoings are expected at Old Trafford ahead of the mid-window deadline.

Looking a little further ahead, if talks with Brentford and Mbeumo progress in the way United hope they will, he should become their second signing of the summer. However, any further additions beyond him are expected to be funded by outgoings, meaning United's focus will soon have to switch to matters in the seller's market.
