Nintendo has introduced Splatoon Raiders, a new spin-off game exclusive to the Switch 2. The surprise announcement was accompanied by a trailer released first on the Nintendo Today! app.

Splatoon Raiders marks the first spin-off game in the Splatoon series. While Nintendo did not provide a release window, they hinted at more details to come in the future.

Splatoon Raiders follows a skilled mechanic on an adventure with the Deep Cut trio to the mysterious Spirhalite Islands. The protagonist is described as an expert mechanic with a mysterious background.

Additionally, a significant free update for Splatoon 3 is on the way, set to launch on June 12. Version 10.0.0 of Splatoon 3 will introduce 30 new weapon kits from the Barazushi and Emberz brands, bring back the Urchin Underpass stage from the original Splatoon game on Wii U, and offer performance and visual enhancements for Switch 2. Players on Switch 2 can expect more detailed visuals and smoother gameplay in locations like Splatsville and the Grand Festival Grounds. Cross-play will still be possible between Switch 1 and Switch 2 players in Splatoon 3.

Moreover, all weapon Freshness caps will be increased, allowing players to earn new in-game Badges. A new stat called Series Weapon Power will be added for Anarchy Battle (Series), tracking a player's effectiveness per weapon based on their win/loss ratio to match them with similarly skilled players. This feature enables players to experiment with new weapons without being at a disadvantage and to maximize their favorite weapons' potential.
