An Air India plane bound for London crashed in Ahmedabad, India, resulting in more than 290 deaths. The flight had 242 passengers and crew on board. The crash occurred in a residential area, causing casualties on the ground as well.

Emergency crews found one survivor, Mr. Viswashkumar Ramesh, who described the terrifying experience of the crash. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, entered a slow descent after take-off, with its landing gear still extended, before exploding into a fireball upon impact.

The crash site was a civilian area near the airport, and the tragic incident claimed the lives of former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani and many others. The US Federal Aviation Administration is set to investigate the crash, as the aircraft's unusual behavior during take-off raises questions about the cause.

Weather conditions were stable at the time of the crash, with no adverse weather phenomena reported. The airport in Ahmedabad was temporarily closed but resumed operations after four hours. World leaders, including Prime Ministers of India, Singapore, and Britain, expressed condolences and solidarity with the affected families.

Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer, faced a significant drop in its shares following the crash. This incident marks the first fatal crash involving the Dreamliner since its commercial debut in 2011. Air India, now under Tata Group's ownership, pledged financial support to the families of the victims.
