Pakistan's stance is rooted in truth, we aim for peace and dialogue to avoid escalating nuclear threats: PPP chairman

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged the European Union to facilitate a diplomatic resolution for the Kashmir issue, emphasizing the need for comprehensive dialogue that addresses various concerns including Kashmir, water disputes, and trade.

The PPP chairman led a Pakistani delegation to Brussels following successful visits to Washington, New York, and London aimed at countering Indian propaganda amidst heightened tensions between the two countries.

In a meeting with Katleen Depoorter, Vice Chair of the Belgian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Bilawal expressed Pakistan's serious apprehensions regarding India's approach.

He highlighted the necessity of dialogue to enhance counterterrorism cooperation and stressed that peace should not be influenced by partisanship, emphasizing that dialogue is crucial for regional stability.

Bilawal also acknowledged the EU's support for diplomacy, the rule of law, and its assistance in promoting human rights reforms and inclusive legislation in Pakistan.

During a media briefing in Brussels, after meeting with Bernd Lange, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade, Bilawal emphasized the significance of dialogue in resolving longstanding conflicts, stating that war cannot be a solution to any issue.

Former foreign minister emphasized that Pakistan's message of peace was conveyed to the EU, highlighting that stability and peaceful coexistence are essential for trade and regional prosperity.

He criticized India's unilateral actions concerning the Indus Waters Treaty, labeling them as violations of international law and undermining international agreements.

Bilawal warned that India's aggression against Pakistan poses a threat to regional peace and emphasized that India has no legal basis to abandon the Indus Waters Treaty.

In an interview with the BBC, he cautioned that any interference with Pakistan's water supply by India could lead to war, condemning India's use of water as a potential weapon in international relations.

Bilawal highlighted Pakistan's successful efforts in combating terrorism, mentioning the country's removal from the FATF grey list and the global recognition of its anti-terrorism measures.

He reiterated Pakistan's commitment to peace but warned of severe consequences if India disrupts Pakistan's water supply, stating that any such action would result in war.
