HOYA Vision Care recently shared new clinical evidence from three important studies that showcase the effectiveness of Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (D.I.M.S.) Technology in managing myopia. These findings were presented during the company's 2025 scientific program at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) 2025 Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
The longest-running clinical study on myopia management spectacle lenses revealed that continuous wear of DIMS lenses led to a significant reduction in myopia progression and axial elongation over an 8-year period. This evidence suggests that long-term use of MiYOSMART* lenses can improve myopia management outcomes.
Dr. Natalia Vlasak, Global Head of Medical and Scientific Affairs at HOYA Vision Care, emphasized the importance of these findings in helping Eye Care Professionals and parents protect children's vision health.
Results from the ASPECT randomized controlled trial showed that combining low-dose atropine eye drops with DIMS lenses halted myopia progression in 40% of children. The study also indicated improvements in vision-related quality of life for children using this combination treatment.
A pilot study focusing on pre-myopia management in young children suggested that DIMS technology could offer a protective effect against myopia development. These initial findings pave the way for further research on the potential benefits of MiYOSMART lenses in preventing myopia onset.
Dr. Vlasak highlighted the importance of finding effective strategies to slow myopia progression, especially with the global increase in myopia cases. The studies presented at ARVO 2025 provide valuable evidence for the benefits of MiYOSMART lenses in myopia management.
