The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has decided to extend the operating hours at its Revenue District Offices (RDOs) to cater to the increasing number of taxpayers taking advantage of the estate tax amnesty before the upcoming June 16 deadline.

BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr. announced that RDOs will remain open as late as 12 midnight to process applications.

According to Lumagui, as long as taxpayers arrive at the District Office by 5 PM, their application for Estate Tax Amnesty will be accommodated regardless of the time it takes, even if the District Office needs to work beyond regular office hours.

During his visit to Revenue District Office No. 39 on June 11, Lumagui expressed his appreciation for the dedication shown by examiners and revenuers from various RDOs in assisting taxpayers.

The estate tax amnesty, established under Republic Act No. 11213, allows taxpayers to settle their estate obligations at a fixed rate of six percent, with all penalties, surcharges, and interest being waived. This initiative is aimed at promoting compliance and offering relief to heirs.

To streamline the process, the BIR has also issued a Tax Advisory stating that the banking hours of all Authorized Agent Banks have been extended until 5:00 PM from June 4 to June 16, 2025.

Lumagui emphasized that this extension ensures that taxpayers have sufficient time to complete their payments in line with the extended BIR office hours.
