NEET-UG result 2025: Mahesh Kumar tops NEET-UG, with Utkarsh Awadhiya in second; over 12.36 lakh candidates qualify exam.

Rajasthan's Mahesh Kumar has secured the top spot in the NEET-UG medical entrance exam, with Madhya Pradesh's Utkarsh Awadhiya coming in second, as per the announcement by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 14, 2025.

Out of the 22.09 lakh candidates who took the exam, more than 12.36 lakh have qualified this year, a slight decrease from the previous year's 13.15 lakh qualifiers. However, the total number of test takers was higher last year at over 23.33 lakh.

Following Kumar and Awadhiya, Maharashtra's Krishang Joshi and Delhi's Mrinal Kishore Jha secured the third and fourth ranks, respectively. Among female candidates, Delhi's Avika Aggarwal clinched the fifth rank nationally.

The state with the highest number of qualifying candidates is Uttar Pradesh, with over 1.70 lakh qualifiers, followed by Maharashtra with over 1.25 lakh and Rajasthan with over 1.19 lakh.

NEET-UG is the country's largest entrance exam in terms of candidate participation, conducted annually by the NTA for admission to medical colleges. There are a total of 1,08,000 seats available for the MBBS course, with approximately 56,000 seats in government hospitals and about 52,000 in private colleges.

Admissions to undergraduate courses in dentistry, Ayurveda, Unani, and Siddha also rely on NEET results for admission.
