Death toll in one of India's worst aviation disasters climbs to 270 as search teams find more bodies

Search and recovery teams are still working at the site of one of India's most tragic aviation disasters, where an Air India flight crashed in Gujarat state, claiming the lives of at least 270 people. The Boeing 787 bound for London crashed into a medical college hostel in Ahmedabad, killing 241 passengers and 29 individuals on the ground. Only one passenger survived the crash.

After three days of search operations, officials discovered 25 additional bodies in the wreckage. Dr. Dhaval Gameti from the Civil Hospital confirmed that 270 bodies have been received, with the lone survivor still under observation.

Relatives of the victims have provided DNA samples for identification, as most bodies were severely damaged. Some family members expressed frustration over delays in the process, seeking answers from authorities.

Investigators recovered the flight data recorder, or black box, which is expected to provide crucial information about the cause of the accident. Experts are hopeful that answers will be available soon, pending analysis of the data.

Key factors being examined include wing flap settings, engine performance, cockpit alarms, and crew actions in response to external conditions. Mistakes in data recording could have contributed to the tragic outcome.

This incident marks the first fatal crash involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 16 years of operation, raising concerns over the safety of these aircraft.
