Former England soccer captain David Beckham, Academy Award winner Gary Oldman and The Who’s frontman Roger Daltrey have been knighted in King Charles III’s birthday honors list.

Former England soccer captain David Beckham, Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman, and The Who’s frontman Roger Daltrey were knighted in King Charles III’s birthday honors list released late Friday. Elaine Paige, Pat Barker, and Penny Mordaunt were also honored with damehoods.

The honors, awarded twice a year, celebrate individuals for their contributions to British life. Winners are chosen by committees based on nominations from the government and the public.

The Sirs

Beckham, 50, was knighted for his services to sport and charity, while Oldman, 67, was recognized for his contributions to drama. Daltrey, 81, was honored for his charity work and music.

The Dames

Paige, 77, was honored for her charity work and music. Barker, 82, and Mordaunt, 52, were also recognized for their contributions to various fields.

The ‘Companion’

Antony Gormley, a sculptor, was made a ‘Companion of Honour’ for his services to art. The award is prestigious and recognizes major contributions to various fields.

More than 1,200 people were honored in the latest list, with recipients from diverse backgrounds. The oldest recipient was a 106-year-old World War II veteran, while the youngest was an 11-year-old disability campaigner.

Three family members were named in the same list for their charity work. Campaigners against knife crime were also recognized, including Pooja Kanda and Alison Madgin.
