Tasmania's snap election has encouraged more candidates to step forward, with former senior Liberal Elise Archer, union leader Jessica Munday and ex-Salmon Tasmania's Luke Martin to run, among others.

As the July 19 polling date approaches, more prominent figures have declared their candidacy for the upcoming election in Tasmania.

Former Tasmanian Liberal attorney-general Elise Archer is vying for a return to state parliament as an independent for the seat of Clark. Archer, who briefly campaigned in last year's state election, emphasized her frustration with the Rockliff Liberal government's lack of responsiveness to Tasmanians' needs and concerns.

Archer, who is no longer affiliated with the Liberal Party, highlighted her opposition to the proposed $945 million AFL stadium at Macquarie Point in Hobart, questioning the government's budget management and financial commitments.

Another candidate entering the political arena is Luke Martin, the former Tourism Tasmania and Salmon Tasmania boss, who will run as a Labor candidate for the seat of Clark. Martin, inspired by his late mentor Jim Bacon, criticized the current government's handling of finances and pledged to bring a fresh perspective to state politics.

Trade union leader Jessica Munday has also announced her bid for Labor preselection for Franklin. Munday, who has a long history of advocating for workers' rights, aims to strengthen Labor's presence in the lower house and address issues such as job security and privatization.

Other candidates stepping forward include child protection campaigner Jack Davenport, who will run as an independent in the seat of Bass, and newcomer Tamar Cordover, who will focus on social and environmental issues in Franklin. Architect Jiri Lev has also declared his candidacy as an independent in Lyons.
