Vice President Sara Z. Duterte has urged the public and political observers to avoid pushing for the disqualification of senator-judges in the upcoming impeachment trial solely based on perceived biases for or against her.

During a press briefing following the Pasidungog 2025 event at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City, Vice President Duterte emphasized that disqualifying senators based on their stance towards her could compromise the entire process.

She pointed out that inhibiting senators due to perceived bias would lead to disqualifying many on both sides, using Sen. Risa Hontiveros as an example.

Vice President Duterte highlighted the need to have confidence in the integrity of the Senate as an institution and urged people to trust that the senator-judges will perform their duties fairly and impartially.

She also addressed criticisms regarding the country's economic downturn, stating that investor confidence had already declined before the impeachment proceedings began.

Vice President Duterte emphasized that the impeachment process does not involve criminal penalties and suggested that those seeking accountability should file cases in court. She expressed concerns about the legitimacy of the impeachment process, alleging that some lawmakers may have been influenced by money or budget incentives.

Amidst scrutiny from various sectors, Vice President Duterte stressed the importance of focusing on deeper institutional reforms rather than engaging in political blame games to address economic issues.
