Yvette Hoffman, one of the victims of Saturday's shootings, shielded her daughter from being shot.

Amidst the tragic events of a shooting that took the lives of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Marc Hortman, a heartwarming story of heroism has emerged. Yvette Hoffman, one of the victims, shielded her daughter from being shot during the violent attack.

The shooting, which Governor Walz has labeled as an 'act of targeted political violence', targeted the two Democratic politicians and left the Hoffmans hospitalized.

Yvette Hoffman's brave act of throwing herself over her adult daughter Hope Hoffman to protect her from the bullets was recounted by her nephew, Mat Ollig, in a Facebook post. He described the incident as a 'political act of terrorism' and praised his aunt for her selfless actions.

In a text message sent to US Senator Amy Klobuchar, Yvette Hoffman revealed that she had been shot eight times, while her husband had been shot nine times. Despite their injuries, both are reportedly in stable condition and undergoing surgeries to recover.

Following the shooting, police officers who arrived at the Hoffman residence also checked on the Hortmans, who lived nearby. The suspect, identified as Vance Luther Boelter, was spotted by officials at the scene and a firefight ensued before he fled.

After a day-long manhunt, Vance Luther Boelter was apprehended and charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree attempted murder. While his roommate described him as a Republican who supported Donald Trump, authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack.

Among Mr. Boelter's belongings, authorities discovered a list of political targets, further indicating the political nature of the violent incident.
