Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, made a significant trip to Greenland on June 15th, which can be viewed from two perspectives. On one hand, it was a bold statement directed at America's President Donald Trump, who has been threatening to take over the island, a semi-autonomous region under Denmark's jurisdiction. The symbolism of the visit was evident as Mr. Macron's aircraft landed in Greenland on his way to meet Mr. Trump at the G7 summit near Calgary, Canada.
Upon his arrival in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, Mr. Macron firmly stated that the annexation of territory is not in line with the actions of allies.
