Alex Eala's run at the Nottingham Open concluded as she was defeated by Poland's Magna Linette in the round of 32 on Tuesday (Manila time).

The Filipino tennis player, aged 20, exited the WTA 250 tournament after a 6-4, 6-3 loss to Linette.

Eala's elimination followed her advancement to the main draw by defeating Romania's Anca Todoni in a tough match. She had also beaten France's Varvara Gracheva earlier in the competition.

Despite winning two challenging matches, Eala struggled against the experienced Linette, who is ranked sixth in the tournament and 31st in the world.

Prior to the Nottingham Open, Eala, ranked 77th, had been eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Ilkley Open by Canada's Rebecca Marino.
