"This is not America's war," Iran's deputy foreign minister tells Lyse Doucet, as Donald Trump considers US action in the conflict.

During an interview with the BBC, Iran's deputy foreign minister emphasized that the conflict in the region is not America's war, as the possibility of US involvement in Israeli strikes looms. The Iranian nuclear program has been significantly damaged, although not completely destroyed. Key components for building a nuclear bomb, such as highly enriched uranium, are believed to be stored in a heavily guarded site under the Zagros Mountains. Analysts suggest that destroying these components would require repeated bombing by the US Air Force using specialized weapons. However, confirming the destruction of these components would necessitate close-up visual confirmation on the ground, a risky endeavor that would require intelligence from Mossad or a Special Forces raid.

There is also concern that Iran may have dispersed materials to other unknown locations, posing a potential threat even after the conflict subsides. The Islamic Republic could retain enough scientific knowledge to resume nuclear activities and pursue nuclear weapons as a deterrent against future attacks.
