An Indigo flight that was en route from Guwahati to Chennai had to make an emergency landing at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru recently, according to airline sources.
An Indigo spokesperson confirmed that the airline issued a "mayday" call before landing in Bengaluru, citing that the aircraft had "run out of fuel".
The incident took place on June 19 when the flight, originally scheduled to reach Chennai at 7:45 pm, was unable to land due to adverse weather conditions. The pilot then decided to divert the flight to Bengaluru, but soon realized that the fuel had been depleted. Consequently, he promptly alerted the airport by declaring a mayday call.
Indigo reported that the flight successfully touched down in Bengaluru at approximately 8:20 pm on June 19.
