As measles cases in Alberta rise to 1,020, AHS issues bulletin over possible contacts at the Stollery Children's Hospital

Alberta Health Services has recently issued a warning regarding potential measles exposure at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton. With the number of measles cases in Alberta reaching 1,020, AHS is cautioning individuals who may have come into contact with an infectious patient at the hospital. This alert follows previous warnings about exposure risks at a Dollarama in Glenridding and the Grey Nuns Community Hospital.

The specific areas at the Stollery where exposure may have occurred were identified as June 18-19. Similarly, the Dollarama at 16711 Rabbit Hill Rd. SW posed a risk on June 16-17, while the Grey Nuns had an infectious patient in its emergency ward on June 18.

The Alberta government's measles dashboard reports 1,020 current cases province-wide, with 995 no longer communicable. Edmonton has confirmed seven cases, while Calgary has 20 and southern Alberta has 681. AHS has advised individuals who were at the Stollery during the specified times and are at risk due to vaccination status to self-monitor for symptoms.
