A bus carrying Kashmiri students returning from war-hit Iran broke down five times enroute to Srinagar, leaving them stranded on the Pathankot highway.

In a challenging situation, a bus carrying Kashmiri students who were evacuated from Iran has encountered five breakdowns while heading towards Srinagar. The students found themselves stranded on the Pathankot highway for over two hours due to repeated mechanical failures after a tiring journey that began in Delhi.

The bus is transporting 14 girls who had already traveled over 2,000 km by road in Iran. Despite reaching Delhi by flight, their journey towards Kashmir has been marred by continuous breakdowns, causing significant difficulties and distress.

Previously, students evacuated from conflict-ridden Iran had expressed dissatisfaction with the travel arrangements provided by the Jammu and Kashmir government for their journey from Delhi to their hometowns. However, they expressed gratitude towards the central government for the rescue mission.

Disappointed by the bus's condition, the students expected better treatment after enduring days of fear and hardship in Iran. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association shared a video highlighting the bus's poor state.

Following the criticism, the office of then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah acknowledged the students' concerns and collaborated with the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation to organize "proper deluxe buses" for their travel.

The group of students arrived in Delhi on a flight that also carried 110 Indian students from Iran, with 90 of them hailing from Jammu and Kashmir. The flight had layovers in Armenia and Doha, facing delays before finally landing in Delhi.
