An IndiGo flight, carrying 168 passengers from Guwahati to Chennai, was diverted to Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport on Thursday. The pilot issued a mayday alert before landing safely in Bengaluru, following a scare. This incident occurred shortly after an Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad claimed the lives of 270 individuals, including passengers and crew members.

The emergency landing was a result of congestion at the Chennai airport, causing a delay in the plane's landing. The flight eventually landed in Bengaluru at 8:15 pm on June 19. Both pilots were de-rostered after the incident.

Initially attempting to land in Chennai around 7:45 pm, the pilot aborted the landing and redirected the flight to Bengaluru. Approximately 35 minutes before landing at Kempegowda airport, a distress call was made due to low fuel levels.

Upon receiving the distress call, air traffic control, fire, and medical services were activated, and the plane landed safely at 8:15 pm. Passengers on board mentioned a sudden and steep approach after the failed landing attempt in Chennai, causing anxiety among them.

On the following day, another IndiGo flight bound for Madurai had to return to Chennai due to a mid-air issue. The pilot detected the problem after flying for half an hour and safely landed the plane with 68 passengers on board.
