Passengers in south London were recently evacuated from trains as temperatures rose above 30C (86F). A train fault near Loughborough Junction caused all services in the area to stop, leaving three trains stranded outside station platforms, according to a joint statement from Thameslink and Network Rail.
The lack of power and air conditioning on a hot day prompted the mobilization of resources from Sussex and Kent to safely evacuate passengers along the track as quickly as possible. Angela Lewis, a passenger bound for Gatwick, described the situation as 'a bloody nightmare'. Thameslink issued an apology to those affected for the challenging and uncomfortable experience they endured.
