Coral were hit with a significant six-figure payout after ITV Racing pundit Kevin Blake successfully tipped the Derby tricast on the channel's Opening Show on Saturday.

Blake named Lambourn, the 13-2 winner, along with runners-up Lazy Griff and Tennessee Stud, and the tricast returned a monster £8,294.72 to a £1 stake.

Trained by Aidan O'Brien, Lambourn was a popular choice in the morning when conditions were expected to become more testing but could be backed at 14-1 when the draw was made on Wednesday.

The son of Australia, who had impressed when winning the Chester Vase, made all the running to score convincingly at Epsom under Wayne Lordan, with Ryan Moore aboard the favourite Delacroix.

“It may have been the threat of considerable rainfall that sparked the support for the proven stayer Lambourn,” said Coral’s David Stevens. “But even without a notable downpour, the Cheshire Vase winner controlled the race from start to finish.

“An SP of 13-2 confirmed he was not without support, but the real damage came from Kevin Blake’s tricast prediction. He put up the 1-2-3 on The Opening Show, and plenty of viewers followed his advice to our considerable cost.”
