A woman was allegedly threatened with a knife and raped in a town park on Friday afternoon. Police are currently appealing for witnesses after the woman reported the shocking attack in Kingsnorth Gardens in Folkestone, Kent.

A 52-year-old male suspect was arrested and taken into custody - with officers seizing a knife and a quantity of drugs during this arrest. He was then later charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of cocaine.

The suspect has been bailed in regards to the alleged sexual assault and will appear before Margate Magistrates' Court on Monday to face the other charges. Police say the victim suffered a facial injury in the alleged attack - with patrols attending the scene at the park.

Police Statement

In a statement released on Saturday, Kent Police said: "Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a report of a serious sexual assault in Folkestone. The incident happened in Kingsnorth Gardens at around 12.40pm on Friday 6 June 2025. A woman stated she had been approached by a man she knew in the park. She alleges she was then threatened with a weapon and raped. The victim also suffered a facial injury. Patrols attended the scene and an investigation was commenced."
