The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 is all set to reveal the next chapter in Apple’s ecosystem. The WWDC 2025 keynote, which will go live from June 9, Monday at 10:30 PM IST, will potentially unveil groundbreaking software and hardware advancements. With CEO Tim Cook at the helm, the keynote is expected to showcase the next generation of platforms for iPhones, Macs, iPads, and more. While the focus remains on major software updates, the possibility of a sneak peek at the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air and significant upgrades to AirPods adds an extra layer of anticipation.

There’s also the possibility of Apple revealing the next-gen M5 chipset as well as the highly anticipated iPad-like smart home device.

If you are excited to see what Apple has in store for us in 2025, join us as we take a quick look at the expectations from Apple WWDC 2025.

iOS 26

One of the most anticipated announcements is the unveiling of iOS 26. Reports suggest a significant visual redesign, drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of Apple Vision Pro. Users can expect a more translucent “glass” look with softer, rounded elements, revamped app icons, and reimagined toolbars. This unified design language is expected to extend across Apple’s entire ecosystem, from iPhones and iPads to CarPlay, creating a more cohesive user experience.

Beyond aesthetics, iOS 26 is rumored to bring a host of new features. The Messages app is set for a major upgrade, including the ability to create polls directly within conversations and set custom background images for chats. Apple is also reportedly introducing a pre-installed Preview app for robust PDF management and a dedicated “Games” app, offering a centralized hub for game downloads and Apple Arcade access.

Little yet meaningful AI upgrades

AI is expected to play a larger role in iOS 26. A new AI-powered battery management system could optimize iPhone battery life by analyzing user habits. Real-time translation is set to expand beyond the Translate app, potentially enabling voice translation during calls and through AirPods. Accessibility enhancements are also on the cards, including a system-wide Reader mode and improved App Store labeling. The Health app may gain a virtual health coach, powered by AI, to suggest lifestyle changes and advise on diet.

iPhone 17 Air teasers

While an official launch is slated for September, Apple may offer a sneak peek at the iPhone 17 Air. This new “Air” model is anticipated to replace the current “Plus” variant. Sources suggest the iPhone 17 Air could redefine smartphone design with an astonishing 5.5mm thickness and a remarkably light 146 grams.

To achieve this unprecedented thinness, Apple is reportedly exploring the radical step of eliminating the USB-C port and other traditional connectors, paving the way for a completely wireless iPhone. However, this form factor may come with compromises, including a single 48MP rear lens, a 24MP front sensor, a smaller battery, and an aluminum frame.

AirPods to get better

AirPods are also expected to receive significant upgrades. A standout new feature under development is “Automatic Sleep Detection,” which aims to automatically pause audio playback when AirPods detect the user has fallen asleep. New head gestures are also anticipated, expanding the hands-free control of AirPods.

Other potential upgrades include camera control, allowing users to trigger the iPhone or iPad camera with a click on the AirPods stem, and improved audio quality. There’s also speculation about real-time translation capabilities, enabling AirPods to translate conversations in real-time.
