The body has been identified as that of Manuel D'Costa from Leitrim.

A missing person search has been stood down following the discovery of a body in North County Roscommon on Friday evening.

A man’s body was discovered in a field in Ballyforan at around 8:30pm on Friday evening.

The search for 48-year-old Manuel D’Costa, from Carrick on Shannon, County Leitrim, who was last seen on Friday, May 16, has now been stood down.

His body has been brought to the Mortuary at University Hospital Galway for a post-mortem examination.

An Garda Síochána would like to thank the public for their assistance in the search.
