Justin Baldoni's $400 million countersuit against Blake Lively has been dismissed, as confirmed by DailyMail.com, amidst their ongoing legal dispute over It Ends With Us.
In December 2024, Blake Lively sued Baldoni for alleged sexual harassment on set, which he denied. In response, Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios filed a defamation suit against Lively, her publicist Leslie Sloane, and husband Ryan Reynolds.
Baldoni also took legal action against The New York Times, filing a $250 million lawsuit over their coverage of Lively's harassment claims against him.
In a surprising turn of events, a judge has dismissed Baldoni's lawsuits, dealing a blow to his hopes for a victory against the actress.
Judge Lewis J Limon dismissed Baldoni's suit for defamation and extortion, stating that Lively's allegations were made within privileged court documents.
According to the judge, the Wayfarer Parties failed to prove that Lively, Reynolds, or Sloane made defamatory statements against Baldoni.
Representatives for Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios have not responded to requests for comment on the dismissal.
Wayfarer Studios, co-founded by Baldoni and Steve Sarowitz, was established in 2019.
Blake Lively's legal team hailed the dismissal as a victory and vindication for Lively, Reynolds, Sloane, and The New York Times, who were dragged into the lawsuit.
The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni began after rumors of tension between them, with Lively accusing Baldoni of harassment and a smear campaign, allegations he denied.
Lively named Baldoni's collaborators, including Wayfarer Studios, in her lawsuit, seeking to expose what she called retaliatory tactics against those who speak up about misconduct.
Baldoni's team released a website with private communications to counter Lively's claims, alleging that she misinterpreted their interactions during the film's production.
Despite Lively dropping some claims against Baldoni, the legal drama continues, with professional consequences for Baldoni, including being dropped by his agency WME.
