CarPlay is set to receive new features with the release of iOS 26 this fall. Here's a look at what users can expect:

• New CarPlay Design: The updated design of iOS 26 will also be reflected in CarPlay, providing a more consistent and visually appealing experience while driving. The new design features icons optimized for light and dark modes, as well as a more compact notification layout for improved visibility of directions.
• Widgets: Users will now have access to widgets on CarPlay, allowing for quick access to information such as weather updates, reminders, smart home details, and more. Additionally, live updates like a friend's flight status can be viewed on the CarPlay screen in real-time.
• Apple CarPlay Ultra Expansion: Apple recently introduced Apple CarPlay Ultra, which enhances CarPlay functionality on both the car's touchscreen and dashboard. This integration aims to deliver a seamless experience by combining iPhone features with in-car capabilities.

While currently exclusive to new Aston Martin orders in the US and Canada, Apple has confirmed plans to collaborate with other automakers for broader implementation. Companies like Hyundai, Kia, Ford, and Volvo are already in the process of incorporating CarPlay Ultra into their vehicle models.
