Meghalaya Police has obtained a seven-day transit remand for the individuals accused of murdering an Indore businessman in the northeastern state, as confirmed by a senior officer on Monday. The suspects will be transported to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya.
According to additional DCP (crime) Rajesh Dandotiya of Indore Police, the men appeared before the CJM (chief judicial magistrate) judge, and Shillong Police received a 7-day transit remand. The fourth accused, Anand, is being taken to Indore, and all four individuals will be escorted by Shillong Police.
In a surprising turn of events, Meghalaya Police disclosed that Raja Raghuvanshi, the businessman from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was murdered by Raj Singh Kushwaha, Akash Rajput, and Vishal Singh Chauhan, who were hired by Raghuvanshi's wife Sonam. Sonam surrendered in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur.
Sonam and Raja, who tied the knot on May 11, embarked on their honeymoon to Meghalaya on May 20. However, they went missing on May 23 while vacationing in Sohra, Meghalaya.
The sudden disappearance of the couple garnered national attention. Following the discovery of the man's body in a gorge on June 2, his family demanded a CBI investigation. Sonam was missing until her surrender.
