Congress exposes Modi's 11-year tenure with stagnant growth, rising hunger, and unfulfilled promises in detailed booklet.

The Congress recently unveiled a detailed booklet marking Narendra Modi's 11 years in office, shedding light on stagnant growth, increasing hunger, and unmet promises during his tenure.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh described the booklet, '11 Saal, Jhoothe Vikaas ke vade', as a collection of 'some of the biggest lies of this Government'.

During a press conference, AICC research department head Rajeev Gowda, the booklet's author, accused the government of spreading fake news and propaganda, emphasizing the Opposition's role in revealing the harsh reality to the public.

Two sets of documents were released by the party to expose the BJP's unfulfilled promises. The first document, 'Ek Aur Baar Jumla Sarkar', scrutinizes the promises made by the BJP in its 2024 manifesto. The second, '11 Saal Jhoote Vikaas Ke Vaade', provides an in-depth examination of the BJP's hollow commitments.

Key Findings

  • In terms of hunger, India ranks 105th out of 127 countries on the World Hunger Index, with 81 crore people receiving free food grains under the PMGKAY. However, malnutrition remains a significant crisis, affecting 35.5% of children with stunting, 19.3% with wasting, and 32.1% underweight.
  • Despite claims of creating Eklavya residential schools and defense indigenization, the reality paints a different picture. A substantial number of defense items remain unindigenized, and many schools announced by the BJP are non-functional.
  • India's economic growth has slowed to 6.5%, the lowest in recent years, raising concerns about job creation and investment confidence in the private sector.
  • Inequality persists, with the top 1% of India's population owning 40% of the wealth, while the bottom 50% struggle with just over 3%.
  • Several government schemes, including UDAN and tree plantation initiatives, have faced challenges in implementation and effectiveness.

Congress leaders emphasized the need for accountability and transparency in governance, urging the government to address these critical issues affecting the nation.
