A man shares his harrowing experience of almost dying after catching a rare disease from a hotel in Turkey. Richard Moore, 55, started experiencing a fever and chest pains after returning from a five-day holiday with his partner Julie. He was rushed to the hospital and put in an induced coma, with doctors diagnosing him with Legionnaires' disease. This lung infection is caused by inhaling water droplets from sources like air conditioning or hot tubs, and can be life-threatening.
Richard, from Blyth, Northumberland, expressed his gratitude for surviving the ordeal but highlighted the seriousness of the disease. He emphasized the importance of being aware of the symptoms and dangers of Legionnaires' disease, urging others to be cautious when traveling. Richard also raised concerns about the conditions of the hotel where he stayed, emphasizing the need for urgent attention to any potential issues.
During their stay at the four-star Champion Holiday Village in Kemer, Richard and his family noticed signs of neglect in the hotel room, including dampness and a musty odor. Despite these red flags, they continued their holiday, only for Richard to fall ill shortly after returning home. His experience serves as a cautionary tale for travelers to be vigilant about their surroundings and prioritize their health.
