Israel's Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that passengers, including climate activist Greta Thunberg, who were aboard the intercepted aid ship bound for Gaza, are being deported. Ms. Thunberg was taken to an airport to be flown back to her home country of Sweden.
According to the ministry, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the group behind the campaign against Israel's blockade of Gaza, has not yet commented on the situation.
The Madleen, the ship carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, departed from Sicily earlier this month. Israel had made it clear that they would not allow the ship to breach the blockade, using any means necessary to prevent it from reaching Gaza.
