The new interface, called Liquid Glass, was introduced Monday at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference.

Apple revealed a significant software redesign at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, introducing Liquid Glass interface to create a more cohesive experience across its device lineup. The transparent menus and glassy look will be featured on iPhone, iPad, Mac, TV platform, smartwatches, and Vision Pro headset.

The redesign is part of iOS 26, watchOS 26, and visionOS 26, marking the upcoming year rather than version numbers. Apple also revamped its iPad software to enhance the device's resemblance to a Mac, addressing a long-standing customer request.

While Liquid Glass aims to unify Apple's operating systems, the event lacked major AI breakthroughs that investors anticipated. Unlike competitors like Alphabet and OpenAI, Apple has shifted focus away from its AI platform, Apple Intelligence.

The highlight of the AI announcements was Apple's decision to open the Apple Intelligence foundation models to developers, enabling them to create software and features using the underlying technology. Additionally, the company introduced live call translation and the ability to merge emojis in the Genmoji feature.
