Hundreds of millions of people are not able to have the number of children they want, the UN warns.

Namrata Nangia and her husband have been considering expanding their family ever since their five-year-old daughter was born. However, the couple always finds themselves pondering one crucial question: 'Can we afford it?'

Living in Mumbai, Namrata works in pharmaceuticals while her husband is employed at a tyre company. The expenses associated with raising their current child are already daunting - school fees, transportation costs, extracurricular activities like swimming lessons, and even medical consultations come at a high price.

Reflecting on her own childhood, Namrata notes the stark differences in parenting today. She recalls a simpler time when education was the primary focus, without the pressure of enrolling children in various extracurricular activities such as swimming and drawing classes.
