Officials in Lahore and its neighboring districts successfully collected and disposed of around 89,000 tonnes of sacrificial animals' offal during a three-day Eid cleanliness operation. This operation, part of the 'Suthra Punjab' program, set a new record for waste disposal in the region.

A senior official praised the operation as the best in over a decade, highlighting the collection and disposal of 88,927 tons of animal waste in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib districts. The field teams showed exceptional preparedness and coordination, removing 54,888 tons from Lahore, 15,543 tons from Sheikhupura, 12,066 tons from Kasur, and 6,430 tons from Nankana Sahib.

During Eid, 20,268 complaints were addressed promptly in Lahore division through various channels, including a helpline, an app, and social media platforms. To prevent illegal waste dumping, monitoring was conducted using cameras from the Punjab Safe Cities Authority and drone cameras. Enforcement actions led to the registration of 20 FIRs, seizure of three vehicles, and fines totaling over Rs300,000 on violators.

For eco-friendly waste disposal, 2.4 million biodegradable bags were distributed across Lahore division. The clean-up efforts involved 651 service delivery camps, 254 temporary collection points, and 34 dumping sites, with more than 24,000 staff members working in three shifts using over 5,000 machines.

Additionally, data shows that approximately 1.8 million sacrificial animals were sold across Punjab before and during Eid at various markets. By the second day of Eid, over 1.147 million small and large animals were sold at cattle markets, with Lahore division leading in sales at 665,620 animals, followed by other divisions in the region.
