President Marcos Announces Periodic Performance Review for Cabinet and Government Agency Heads

The assessment on the performance of Cabinet officials as well as heads of government agencies and offices will be done on a periodic basis, President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. said Tuesday.

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. revealed that there will be a regular assessment of the performance of Cabinet officials and heads of government agencies and offices. This review will not be a one-time event but an ongoing process to ensure that all government entities are functioning effectively.

During an ambush interview, Marcos clarified that this evaluation is not a Cabinet revamp but a way to put government officials on notice and essentially place them on probation. He emphasized that the review will be done periodically, possibly on a quarterly basis, to closely monitor the performance of officials.

While some officials have shown good performance, Marcos hinted that there may be more changes in the future. This move comes after the President asked Cabinet secretaries and agency heads to submit their courtesy resignations to recalibrate his administration following the midterm polls.

Last week, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced that some Cabinet secretaries and agency heads have been retained in their positions. The performance evaluation of other government officials, including heads of government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), is still ongoing.
