During the triple murder trial of Erin Patterson, the accused killer took the witness stand to give her testimony. Patterson has pleaded not guilty to three charges of murder and one of attempted murder.
Prosecutor Nanette Rogers, SC, focused on Patterson's reported illness after a lunch on July 29, 2023, and the statements made by her children about when she started feeling unwell.
In a pre-recorded interview played during the trial, Patterson's son mentioned that his mother did not complain of feeling sick on the afternoon and evening following the lunch. On the other hand, Patterson's daughter recalled her mother feeling unwell the next day.
When questioned in court, Patterson stated that she was unsure if she had informed her son about feeling unwell later that day. Rogers also inquired about her son's account of the events on July 30, 2023, to which Patterson responded by saying her recollection differed from his. She mentioned that her son was the one who suggested skipping church that morning.
Patterson recounted that she checked on her son in the morning, only to find him in the TV room complaining of a stomach ache and requesting to skip church.
