An elderly cyclist tragically passed away after a collision with a vehicle in Kilgarvan, County Kerry. The incident occurred on the R569 road close to the Church Grounds area at approximately 1.40pm. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place. Authorities have closed the road for a technical examination.
Drivers heading to and from Kenmare are advised to use the route through Killarney and Moll's Gap on the N71, as the road is not suitable for heavy vehicles. Gardaí are requesting any road users who have camera footage, such as dash-cam recordings, from the area between 1pm and 2pm to provide it to the authorities. Anyone with information is urged to contact Killarney Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line, or any garda station.
The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
