Meghalaya honeymoon murder: Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly killed by his wife Sonam while the newly-wed couple was on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. His body was found in a gorge on June 2, ten days after the couple had gone missing. Sonam had surfaced at a dhaba in Ghazipur on June 9.

Following the tragic murder of businessman Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, the police have identified five individuals involved in the case. Raja was allegedly killed by his wife Sonam, with his body discovered in a gorge ten days after the couple went missing. Sonam, along with four others, has been taken into custody in connection with the murder.

Sonam, the prime accused, reportedly offered money to hired killers to carry out the murder and orchestrated the crime by pretending to be tired and walking behind her husband before instructing the other accused to kill him. Despite claiming innocence and alleging abduction, Sonam has been placed in custody and will be transported to Shillong for further investigation.

Raja and Sonam got married on May 11 and embarked on their honeymoon on May 20. The search for the couple began when their rented scooter was found abandoned on May 24 along the road from Shillong to Sohra.

The second accused, Raj Singh Kushwaha, who is believed to be Sonam's boyfriend, has also been detained. He is suspected of being the mastermind behind the murder and coordinating the crime from a distance. Additionally, 19-year-old Akash Rajput and 22-year-old Vishal Singh Chauhan, along with Anand Kurmi, have been arrested in connection with the case.

Authorities recovered clothes worn by Vishal during the incident at his residence in Indore and are currently searching for his mobile phone. The accused have confessed to their involvement in the murder, and Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong confirmed that some of them have admitted to the crime. All arrested individuals will be brought to Shillong for further proceedings.

A local guide who witnessed three men with Raja and Sonam on the day they disappeared has identified one of the suspects from photographs provided by the police. The guide expressed relief that the perpetrators have been apprehended and emphasized that the community's reputation has been cleared of any false accusations.
