Justin Baldoni is determined to continue his legal battle with fellow 'It Ends With Us' star Blake Lively, despite a judge throwing out his $400 million defamation lawsuit against her and Ryan Reynolds.
Baldoni's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, clarified that while the defamation claims were dismissed, the court has allowed them to amend four out of seven claims against Lively. These amendments will present additional evidence and refined allegations related to false accusations of sexual harassment and retaliation, and a purported smear campaign.
Freedman emphasized that the truth remains on their side, expressing confidence as they move forward with the case. He also mentioned the upcoming deposition of Lively, which he will be conducting, and acknowledged the support from the public and online community following the case.
Recently, a judge ruled in favor of Lively and Reynolds, dismissing Baldoni's lawsuit that included accusations of extortion. However, the court permitted Baldoni to revise and refile certain claims concerning interference with contracts.
In addition to the lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds, Baldoni's legal action against The New York Times, alleging collusion to damage his career, was also thrown out.
Lively's legal team responded to the dismissal by labeling the lawsuit as baseless and expressing their intent to pursue damages and fees against Baldoni and other involved parties.
Lively, on the other hand, has filed a lawsuit against Baldoni for sexual harassment and retaliation, claiming mistreatment following her complaints about working conditions on the set of 'It Ends With Us.' The trial for Lively's complaint against Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios is scheduled for March 2026.
