Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presented a budget that allocates Rs2.55 trillion ($9 billion) for defense spending in FY26, up from Rs2.12 trillion in the previous fiscal year.

Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of unity and strength displayed by the nation during the recent military confrontation with India, urging a similar focus on economic growth and welfare.

The military clash between India and Pakistan was triggered by an attack on Hindu tourists in Indian Kashmir in April, leading to a ceasefire after four days of intense fighting.
