Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres is once again in the transfer spotlight, with rumors linking him to Manchester United. The 27-year-old striker, who was brought to Portugal by manager Ruben Amorim from Coventry for £20m in 2023, has been valued at £67m by Sporting.
Gyokeres has an impressive record of 97 goals and 26 assists in 102 appearances for Sporting. In the last season, he scored 54 goals in 52 matches, averaging more than a goal per game. However, 35% of his goals in the 2024-25 season came from penalties, where he converted all 19 spot-kicks successfully.
If Gyokeres moves to Old Trafford, he may need to rely more on open-play goals, as Bruno Fernandes is a reliable penalty taker for United. Fernandes has scored 38 out of 42 spot-kicks since joining the club, excluding shoot-outs.
