Apple has introduced its latest software update for the iPhone, unveiling a fresh look and a range of new features for CarPlay that address a significant issue with the system.
During its annual WWDC livestream, Apple showcased the new iOS 26, which brings a redesigned interface known as 'Liquid Glass'. This design incorporates transparent elements on the screen to mimic the appearance of glass, creating more natural reflections.
While this new aesthetic is primarily for the iPhone, users will also notice the same design language on their car's touchscreen through the updated Apple CarPlay. The screen will adjust brightness based on the time of day, and users can select from new wallpapers.
One of the most practical updates is the condensed format for incoming calls, which now appear at the bottom of the screen. This change ensures that important information like navigation directions is not obscured, addressing a common complaint among CarPlay users.
Additionally, 'Live Activities' are now integrated into the main screen. This feature allows users to track events like sports games or deliveries with a widget on the home screen, providing real-time updates.
