External Affairs Minister warns of deep strikes into Pakistan in response to terrorist attacks, emphasizing retribution against terrorists.

During a recent interview with Politico, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating that India would retaliate with deep strikes if provoked by terrorist attacks. He emphasized that retribution would be directed towards terrorist organizations and their leaders in response to barbaric acts like the Pahalgam attack.

Following the Pahalgam terror attack in April, which resulted in 26 casualties, India launched Operation Sindoor as a response. Jaishankar highlighted that Pakistan is openly training and deploying "thousands" of terrorists against India.

Jaishankar emphasized that India will not tolerate such actions and will take decisive measures against terrorist outfits, regardless of their location. He stressed that if provoked, India is prepared to strike deep into Pakistan to address the root causes of conflict.

After the Pahalgam attack, tensions between India and Pakistan escalated, leading to precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The hostilities between the two nations were temporarily halted following discussions between military officials on May 10.

Jaishankar underscored that Pakistan's use of terrorism as a state policy remains a significant concern and a source of tension between the two countries. He highlighted India's military capabilities and the effectiveness of recent operations, stating that Pakistan was forced to seek peace due to the significant damage inflicted by Indian forces.

During his visit to Europe, Jaishankar will engage with leaders from the European Union, Belgium, and France to strengthen bilateral relations and reaffirm India's zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.
