The local derby between the Cronulla Sharks and St. George Illawarra Dragons saw the Dragons take a commanding 18-6 lead after scoring three consecutive tries.
The Sharks got on the board first with Braydon Trindall's try, set up by a strong run from Blayke Brailey out of dummy-half. However, the Dragons quickly responded with their own No.9 showcasing some impressive footwork.
Damien Cook, known for his running game, scored a brilliant individual try by evading multiple defenders. The Dragons extended their lead as young playmaker Lykhan King-Togia beat four players to score, capitalizing on two Sharks errors that led to another Dragons try.
The Sharks faced adversity as Nicho Hynes' knock-on was seized by Clint Gutherson, resulting in Jesse Ramien being sin-binned for holding down the Dragons fullback. This left the Sharks a man down, and the Dragons wasted no time in scoring with Jack de Belin crashing over the line.
