At the Old Bailey, three teenage girls have pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Fredi Rivero, a 75-year-old man who was fatally attacked in north London. The incident, captured on a mobile phone, took place in Islington on 27 February, leading to Mr. Rivero's death in the hospital the following day.
Mr. Rivero, a Bolivian national, was targeted near a bus stop on Seven Sisters Road by the teenagers who had just disembarked from a bus. They proceeded to push, shove, kick, and punch him, while one of the girls recorded the assault on her phone and snatched his glasses. CCTV footage retrieved by detectives revealed the oldest girl delivering a punch to Mr. Rivero's head, causing him to collapse.
