Aamir Khan collaborated with director Ashutosh Gowariker in the critically acclaimed film Lagaan. Following the success of Lagaan, Ashutosh approached Aamir with the script of Swades. However, Aamir recently disclosed in an interview why he turned down the film and admitted that he has yet to watch it.
What Aamir said
During the interview, Aamir revealed that he found the script of Swades 'boring.' He recounted how Ashutosh narrated the story, then titled Kaveri Amma, to him during the making of Lagaan. Aamir expressed his honest opinion to Ashutosh, stating that he was bored with the three-hour-long narration. Despite acknowledging the noble intentions behind the story, Aamir emphasized the importance of presenting it in an engaging manner.
'Maine ab tak dekhi nahi hai Swades'
Aamir further mentioned that he has not watched Swades yet and speculated that Ashutosh may have made necessary corrections to make the film more appealing to the audience. He acknowledged that the viewers appreciated Shah Rukh Khan's performance in the movie, which is considered one of his best.
Swades, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, received critical acclaim and won two National Awards. It is regarded as a standout film in Shah Rukh Khan's career.
Fans can look forward to Aamir Khan's upcoming movie, Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna. The film, a remake of the Spanish movie Campeones, is set to hit theaters on June 20.
