A suspect in his 60s has been arrested in connection with the murder of Annie McCarrick in 1993. The arrest was made by the Serious Crime Unit at Irishtown Garda Station in Dublin. This marks the first arrest in the case.

Annie McCarrick, born in New York in 1967, was 26 years old when she went missing. Gardaí have also initiated a search at a residence in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, as part of the investigation. The house and garden will undergo technical and forensic examinations.

It is important to note that the current occupants of the residence are not linked to McCarrick's disappearance. The search is being conducted by the Dublin Metropolitan Region's South Central divisional search team with support from the Garda National Technical Bureau.

An Garda Síochána is keeping McCarrick's family informed about the investigation and the recent developments. McCarrick resided in Sandymount, Dublin 4, with two flatmates at the time of her disappearance on March 26th, 1993.

Her friends raised concerns when she did not show up for a dinner they had planned on March 27th. She also missed work on the following days. Groceries purchased by McCarrick on March 26th were found unpacked, indicating her last known activity.

McCarrick was reported missing on March 28th, 1993, and the investigation team is urging anyone with information to come forward. They are encouraging individuals who have previously provided information to reach out again if they have more details to share.
