Apple recently provided a sneak peek at the upcoming software innovations for iPhones, Macs, and other Apple devices during its annual developer conference. These updates will bring about significant changes, including the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) features and a fresh design for the operating systems.
One of the most noticeable changes will be the new design language for the operating systems. Since the debut of the iPhone in 2007, Apple has primarily followed two design directions. Initially, the software aimed to replicate real-world objects, like wooden bookshelves in the Books app, to help users grasp the concept of multitouch screens. In 2013, iOS 7 introduced a starkly minimalist approach with icons composed of simple lines.
Although there has been a gradual infusion of color in recent years, the fundamental 2D design principle has persisted. The latest design language, known as Liquid Glass, will bring a fresh and modern look to Apple's devices. Transparent elements that seem to float above the screen will create a sleek and futuristic appearance, resembling flowing glass.
Apple is moving away from its traditional design after maintaining a similar aesthetic for over a decade. The company unveiled this exciting update at its annual WWDC event in California.
