After six days of protests in Los Angeles, police took more aggressive actions to disperse demonstrators, while rallies against immigration raids continued to expand throughout the United States. The Trump administration also warned of the possibility of deploying troops to other American cities.
In Los Angeles, which has been a focal point of unrest, vandalism, and looting since Friday's raids, protesters gathered once again outside federal government buildings in the city center. However, their numbers were fewer, and most had left the city before the second night of an 8pm curfew.
By 6:30pm, crowds outside City Hall were instructed to disperse, leading to police firing rubber bullets and making arrests around 7pm. The remaining protesters were corralled into a city intersection, arrested, and loaded onto a police bus. By 9pm, the streets of central Los Angeles were notably quiet.
Protests also emerged in other parts of Los Angeles, such as Inglewood, with police gearing up for a "full mobilization" on Saturday in anticipation of renewed demonstrations across the country. This comes as President Trump plans a major military parade in Washington.
