In a recent incident, a Chinese fighter jet was reported to have flown unusually close to a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) aircraft patrolling above the Pacific Ocean, according to Japan's Defense Ministry.
The MSDF plane was monitoring Chinese aircraft carriers in the Pacific when the fighter jet launched from one of the carriers and proceeded to cross in front of the MSDF plane, the ministry revealed on Wednesday.
This marks the third time the ministry has publicized an event involving a Chinese aircraft approaching a Japanese plane, with the last occurrence dating back to 2014. Fortunately, there were no damages sustained by the MSDF aircraft or its crew.
Tokyo has expressed significant concerns regarding the potential for an accidental altercation through diplomatic and defense channels, urging Beijing to take measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
